Sun Coral (Tubastraea aurea)
Tubastraea aurea, commonly known as Sun Coral, is a non-photosynthetic LPS coral admired for its vivid yellow-orange polyps that bloom like sunbursts, especially during feeding. Unlike most corals, it does not rely on light to survive, making it ideal for placement in shaded areas, caves, or overhangs in the aquarium. However, it requires dedicated care, including regular target feeding with meaty foods like mysis or brine shrimp to thrive. Peaceful and non-aggressive, the Sun Coral offers a stunning display when fully extended and is best suited for experienced reefkeepers willing to meet its demanding nutritional needs.
