Porites coral serves as the host for these worms, providing a stable and encrusting structure. This SPS coral requires stable water conditions, moderate to high lighting, and moderate flow to thrive. Unlike many other coral-inhabiting organisms, Christmas Tree Worms do not harm their host but rely on it for shelter.
Since the worms are filter feeders, they require a mature reef system with plenty of plankton and dissolved nutrients. Target feeding with phytoplankton or other fine particulate foods can help sustain them.
